Bridges in Topeka
At Ideus Family Dental Care, we understand the impact that missing teeth can have on both your smile and overall oral health. Dental bridges are a reliable and effective solution for replacing one or more missing teeth, helping to restore your ability to chew, speak, and smile with confidence. Dr. Nathan Ideus is skilled in creating custom dental bridges that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, providing both function and aesthetics.
When Are Dental Bridges Needed?
Dental bridges are typically recommended when one or more teeth are missing, and there are healthy teeth or implants on either side of the gap. Bridges can help prevent the remaining teeth from shifting out of place, which can lead to bite problems and further tooth loss. By filling the gap with a bridge, you can maintain the alignment of your teeth and the integrity of your bite. Dr. Ideus will carefully evaluate your situation to determine if a dental bridge is the best solution for you.
Types of Dental Bridges
At Ideus Family Dental Care, we offer several types of dental bridges to meet your specific needs. Traditional bridges involve creating a crown for the teeth on either side of the gap, with a false tooth (or teeth) in between. For patients who do not want to alter their natural teeth, implant-supported bridges offer an alternative, using dental implants to anchor the bridge. Dr. Ideus will discuss the options with you and help you choose the best type of bridge based on your individual needs and preferences.
The Dental Bridge Process
The process of getting a dental bridge typically involves two or more visits to our Topeka office. During the first visit, Dr. Ideus will prepare the adjacent teeth by removing a small amount of enamel to make room for the crowns. We’ll then take an impression of your teeth, which will be used to create your custom bridge. A temporary bridge may be placed to protect your gums and teeth while your permanent bridge is being made. Once the permanent bridge is ready, Dr. Ideus will carefully fit, adjust, and secure it in place, giving you a restored and natural-looking smile.
